God corrects His children when we sinfully rebel. While loving, He is also a Consuming Fire. When Christians long fail to heed the Holy Spirit working in our hearts to do His just will, He will exercise external chastening. He does so because He loves us and will see His redemptive plan through. Here the Word of God awakens us to repentance to faithful duty before Him.
