Newt Gingrich Speaks against the American left, Media, and Intelligentsia

Guest essay by Michael Hernandez

SIMI VALLEY—“I am as deeply troubled by the American left as (President Ronald) Reagan was by Russian communism” said Newt Gingrich to over 1,400 capacity filled crowd on Tuesday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library—the largest crowd he has ever addressed at the Reagan Library. “When Reagan was defeating the Soviet empire, none of us realized we were losing the American intellectual framework. While the Soviet empire was losing, the Marxists won America. Because we lost control of academic environments, we lost control of intelligentsia.”

According to Gingrich, 96 percent of reporters donating contributed to the Clinton campaign. This is a 24:1 ratio. “This is an extraordinary gap between the leadership elite and the people. We need a change to the entire intelligentsia of this country—our universities, our public schools, our newsrooms which are propaganda centers and not newsrooms.

“Hillary is much more calculating and more radical than (President Barack) Obama,” said Gingrich. Hillary’s hero “is Saul Alinsky—the man who dedicated one of his books to the devil. Read Alinsky (and) how deeply anti-American and anti-law and order he is.”

“Hillary is the most radical person to be nominated by a political party. Look at the depth and scale of her corruption. Look at her speech to a Brazilian bank where she got paid $225,000 and her husband $400,000 earlier. She said, “My dream is a Western Hemisphere without borders.

“Any Republican who is confused (on how to vote), just look at the Supreme Court for the next 40 years. No one can allow Hillary into the White House. The only practical vote is a vote for Donald Trump.”

Gingrich mentioned a book by Charles Murray called “Coming Apart: The State of White America” (2012) which details how the top five percent income earners and top five percent of educated Americans form the “American aristocracy” in which you have “decisions from elites, news media, judges, politicians that have no relation with the rest of the country.”

Gingrich gave examples of a dysfunctional America:

  • Sending $1.4 billion dollars to the Iranians to “shoot down our own ships. Even if you are liberal that is really stupid”
  • The Veterans Administration which reported that 90 individuals were replaced to only have US Today report that 84 of these 90 were reassigned and six were outsiders. Finally, after eight years of fixing the Veterans Administration, one of three calls made to the suicide line goes to voicemail.

Gingrich fielded questions from the audience with one audience member, Tina Hillstrom of Beverly Hills, a California delegate at the GOP Convention, asking “if Trump should run advertisements in the newspapers as the election approaches?”

“I wouldn’t give one penny to the New York Times,” said Gingrich. “I would expand my reach on Facebook and Twitter and social media. He (Mr. Trump) already has 25 million followers between Facebook and Twitter combined. This is a standup fight with the news media and he has done a remarkable job.”

According to Gingrich, “I am genuinely frightened of a Clinton presidency in the deepest sense. If Hillary wins, imagine 1977, see a female version of Jimmy Carter, and don’t give up. If Donald wins, he needs to study how Ronald Reagan rebuilt America.”
